Sinus precautions

Note: ONLY FOR PATIENTS SPECIFICALLY TOLD TO ADHERE TO SINUS PRECAUTION

If your surgery involved the sinus or had a risk of creating a passage into the sinus, you may be requested to use sinus precautions.

These include:

  1. No blowing your nose for 1 week. You may wipe your nose but do not forcefully blow it.
  2. Avoiding flying for one week.
  3. Avoid scuba diving.
  4. Avoid drinking through a straw.
  5. Avoid CPAP machines – If you use a CPAP machine please discuss with Dr Tuckett.
  6. If you are prescribed a nasal spray, ONLY USE FOR 3 DAYS as directed.
  7. You may or may be prescribed antibiotics to use as directed.
